Capital Vineyard

Welcome

If you are looking for a church in Wellington, you have come to the right place.

At Capital Vineyard, we don’t sit on pews and there is no stained glass … you will find a group of people facing their struggles, triumphs, hopes and fears; a bunch of people who don’t have all the answers, but are committed to seeking God for them.

At Capital, you will find unconditional love and support, much laughter and some sadness, and in it all, awe and joy at what God is doing for us, with us and in us.

Our values

Here at Capital Vineyard, we believe that transformed people transform communities.

Our primary purpose is to provide a church home where people can be transformed through their relationship with God and be equipped as effective disciples of Jesus Christ.

We believe God is active today through His Holy Spirit in the lives of His disciples, to do all the works that Jesus and the early church did. We are constantly looking for the breaking through of the Kingdom of God in people’s lives and in our church community.

Because of this, we organise our church life together around five core values:

  • Worship - We want to love Him with our songs and our lives. We love Him because He first loved us.
  • Word - Our desire is to know the Bible, experience what it talks about and do what it commands us to do. The Bible is our standard for the Christian life.
  • Fellowship - Christians are not meant to be alone. We are meant to share life together, learning to know and love each other. This is why our church is divided into small groups in order to make our large family feel smaller.
  • Ministry - Every member of the church is a minister. We all get to participate in the work of the church. God gives the church leaders not to do all the ministry, but to equip people to do their part.
  • Outreach - As God blesses us, we are to become a blessing to others. All around us are lost, broken, poor people who need the resources that God has freely given the church. We are not to hoard, but be generous.

Connect groups

Connect groups are an essential part of Capital Vineyard and are “building blocks” of the community life of our church.

They are a small group of people who meet during the week and a place where we are cared for pastorally, can find healing and fellowship, and can learn to minister and work together.

Connect groups are vital, not only for our ongoing personal health and growth as followers of Jesus, but also for the health and development of Capital Vineyard as we reach out and share the good news of Jesus to our families, friends and neighbours, and our city.

We currently have a number of connect groups running throughout the week including the Alpha course – An introduction to Christianity. If you would like to be part of a group or would like to know what we have on offer, you can either check out the website or contact the office on 04 472 7752 or cvadmin@capitalvineyard.org.nz
